NVIDIA’s $249 Supercomputer: Humanoid AI in the Palm of Your Hand

NVIDIA has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, a compact AI powerhouse designed for developers, students, and hobbyists to explore generative AI, robotics, and computer vision. The device delivers up to 1.7x the inference performance of its predecessor, powered by NVIDIA’s Ampere GPU architecture with tensor cores and a 6-core Arm CPU.
The new AI chip is capable of 70 trillion operations per second, which can be considered extremely high-performance computing. The most fascinating aspect of this Jetson Nano Super: it retails for only $249.
NVIDIA took this further by positioning the Jetson Orin Nano Super as a platform for general humanoid robotics that can leverage large language models (LLMs). Supporting edge AI prototyping, it integrates tools for AI development, including robotics (NVIDIA Isaac), vision AI (NVIDIA Metropolis), and sensor processing (NVIDIA Holoscan).
The device supports up to four high-resolution cameras, enabling context-aware humanoids that can be used for diverse applications, from autonomous robots to visual AI agents. Its affordability represents a convergence of technologies that lowers the barrier to entry for generative AI and edge computing.
For broader compatibility, the Jetson Orin ecosystem provides developers access to resources like the Omniverse Replicator for synthetic data generation and the TAO Toolkit for fine-tuning pre-trained models. The Jetson AI Lab and its open-source community also offer tutorials, collaborative projects, and a thriving support network. Jetson’s ecosystem partners contribute software and hardware solutions, enabling developers to prototype and scale their ideas seamlessly.
