GPT-Next: 100x More Powerful Than GPT-4 – Are We Ready for the AI Revolution?
👋 Hi, I am Mark. I am a strategic futurist and innovation keynote speaker. I advise governments and enterprises on emerging technologies such as AI or the metaverse. My subscribers receive a free weekly newsletter on cutting-edge technology.

GPT-4 changed the game, GPT-Next might rewrite the rulebook, but are we prepared for AI systems that are 100 times more powerful than today's models?

The CEO of OpenAI Japan has just teased its latest innovation—GPT-Next, an AI model that will be 100 times more powerful than GPT-4, with a release expected by the end of 2024.

Unlike traditional advancements that rely on brute-force computing, GPT-Next focuses on efficiency, employing "System 2 thinking" to reason through complex problems instead of simply predicting text. This leap forward is expected to enhance tasks like advanced mathematics, with reports indicating the model already scores over 90% on benchmark tests.

Moreover, GPT-Next will generate high-quality synthetic training data, resolving one of the key challenges in AI development: the shortage of diverse, high-quality data.

At the KDDI Summit in Tokyo, OpenAI Japan's CEO, Tadao Nagasaki, revealed that GPT-Next would offer a 100x boost in computational power while using similar resources, thanks to architectural advancements. The project is also a precursor to an even more advanced AI model, codenamed "Orion," which is planned for release in 2025.

The announcement comes at a time when ChatGPT already has 200 million weekly users, with adoption increasing rapidly among Fortune 500 companies like Apple, Coca-Cola, and Moderna.

As companies rush to integrate AI into their operations, the real challenge lies in ensuring the safe and ethical use of these rapidly advancing technologies. With AI evolving at breakneck speed, are businesses and society ready to manage the implications of systems this powerful? What safeguards will be necessary to prevent misuse, and can we control AI that may eventually surpass human capabilities?
