The f(x) = e^x | Welcome to the Jetsons

Good Day! This is my weekly newsletter, with a dose of insights into the future. The topic of this newsletter is the exponential times we live in, hence the title of f(x) = e^x, which is the (natural) exponential function.

You can visit The Digital Speaker to book me as a keynote speaker for your next event or to hire me as a future tech coach for your CEO. I have also published my trend predictions for 2022.

Welcome to the Jetsons: How Robots Will Change Society

My latest article:

We all remember the popular cartoon The Jetsons, and we all loved the future they portrayed: everything was automated! Well, as far as I can tell, we're not quite there yet, but we're getting there. Robots play a more significant role in our everyday lives, and more will soon be commonplace in organisations, our homes, and across industries.

As our reliance on technology grows to make us more productive, we push for devices that make our lives easier. If a robot can do it for us, we feel like we are getting one step closer to reaching that Jetsons-esque future we have always dreamed about. But what does this Jetsons' dream-like world look like?

There is more to come from robotics engineering. I believe the next big step will be AI and robots making autonomous decisions in the future. For now, let's take a look at how we got here and answer the question: can robots replace humans?

Three Useful Nuggets of Information

My weekly tips from around the web to get you thinking.

1. NYFW enters the metaverse and breaks all the rules.

Nolcha Shows, an independent fashion design firm, has opened the world of haute couture to a new generation by hosting a virtual-reality event at this year's New York Fashion Week. Participants had the chance to see how fashion is incorporated into virtual reality, augmented reality, and wearable technology. (Forbes)

2. Your fast food is almost ready, but there's a robot at the door.

Nuro, a developer of autonomous technology for delivery vehicles, has partnered with Uber Eats to begin delivering food via robot. Nuro's driverless delivery robots, operating on a limited scale in several cities, are expected to be deployed nationally after the two companies signed a 10-year contract just days ago. (Autoweek)

3. Building a metaverse: the author who invented the word speaks.

Neal Stephenson, the cyberpunk pioneer who wrote Snow Crash—a book imagining a world where people use virtual reality to socialise with one another on massive scales—is now working with a cryptocurrency startup to create an open metaverse platform that will make it easier for users of VR environments to enter into contact with each other. Tesla's Humanoid Robot is Coming

Elon Musk announced that Tesla would borrow the Autopilot team to finish its humanoid robot by a deadline of the end of this month. The Tesla Bot project is a priority for the CEO. Tesla has made a habit of selling Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) package features before it fully developed, but it is now under pressure to deliver. (Electrek)
