The internet has a problem. On the one hand, we have the ‘Western internet' where everyone can do as they like, where you can be anonymous and say/do whatever you want, but where reputation and online trust is difficult. On the other hand, we have the ‘Chinese internet', where every action you do is recorded and contributes positively or negatively to your reputation. However, privacy is non-existent. Researchers at OpenAI have developed algorithms that are capable of working together in complex situations, such as in the popular and complicated video game Dota 2. The five algorithms used neural networks to collaborate and beat amateur players, in testing. (TR)

The World Cup is well on its way in Russia, but in the meantime, students were taking part in the Robo World Cup in Montreal. The annual contest to build and program teams of soccer-playing robots and while the Dutch don’t take part in Russia, they did win the RoboCup. (Motherboard)
